che mi vien far del tuo viso rosato
che m'ha' con li occhi tuo el cor furato.
El qual si struge, ché nelle tuo braccia
riposo prese già con gran piacere,
seguendo le virtù
del tuo volere.
E quando son lontan vie più m'allaccia
l'amor di te con ogni suo potere,
el quale forza mi darà e sapere,
sì che ritorno faccia a rivedere

Alas! my love, how hard it is to go away
from your rosy face
and beautiful eyes which have stolen my heart.
My heart pines for you,
since it took great pleasure resting in your arms,
following the powerful call of
its desire for you.
The further away I am, the more my love for you
enthralls me with all its power.
It is this power which will give me strength
and show me how I can find my way back
to see you again; for my heart can and will only
find
