Text
El no me zova né val donna fuzire
ché quando fuzo allor me par morire.
Credea, madonna, per starve lontano
donar riposo alquant'al mio tormento
e tal rissor mi trovo falso e vano
ché com più fuzo maior pena
sento.
Però non posso mai esser contento
s'io non ritorno a voi, mio disire
Translation
It is no use or help fleeing, my lady,
because it feels like dying when I do it.
I thought I could relieve my torment somewhat
by staying away from you, my lady,
but I find it a false and vain resort,
since the
farther I flee, the greater pain I feel.
Therefore if I do not return to you
I can never be happy, my desire.Text revision and translation © Giovanni
