Ventila con tumulto la gran fama
e l'inclita belleza di costei
che per virtù miglior effetto chiama.

Umidi stanno sempre li ochi miei
quando Titan non porge la sua ombra
a cui suggetti stan uomini e dei.

Gentil pensier e splendido consiglio
ebbe natura, onde mi maraviglio

Translation

Vent resoundingly the great fame
and the renowned beauty of this lady
which, through her virtue, produces an even greater effect.

My eyes are always moist
when the sun does not cast her shadow
which men and gods bow to.

Nature had a noble thought
and a splendid idea, and I marvel at it.
