The Temporal Cycle

This cycle brgins on the first Sunday of Advent and procedes through Chirstmas, Epiphany, the weeks before Lent, Passiontide, Easter Pentecost and the remaining week of the liturgical year to the end of November. Its major feasts commemorate events in the life of Christ and the early Church.

The Sanctoral Cycle

The Sanctoral cycle commemorates each saint in the calendar, beginning with the feast closest to the beginning of the Temporal cycle -- Advent. Saints feasts are usually celebrated on the dies natalis of the saint -- the day on which the saint died or was 'born' into heaven. On the linked page they are present in order of the calendar year.
